Whadaya mean a Tele wont cut threw the mix?

Last night at my bands gig, I took both my guitars.

My partscaster:


And my Epiphone LP Custom (no current or good photos of her: Will remedy that tonight).

Now, my partscaster is stuffed with an SD lil59 in the bridge, and a 1/4 pounder in the neck. My LP is loaded with SD 59's bridge and neck, and real Gibby pots.

My Epiphone LP is a monster: Big fat tone, aggressive sounding, sustain for days/weeks, and just out front like an LP should be. I've played it in comparison with three Gibson LP Custom, and you cant tell the difference in tone, and my LP with the SD's is a lil louder than the three Gibby Customs I compared it too.

Last night it was apparent, my partscaster was just a cut above my LP in "cutting through" the mix. In playing just the bridge pup and combined bridge/neck, it nosed out the LP. But the weak spot was the neck pup: When I switched to just the neck pup, it fell off big time, while the neck pup in my LP was just a monster. The SD 1/4 pounder just couldnt keep up.

Well, I am going to take the plunge, because I know exactly what I want (I hear it in my head), and I'm gonna go to a full size SD 59 in the bridge in my partscaster, to balance out with that lil 59.

So, it looks like my lil ole partscaster will remain as my Number1, with my Epi LP nippin at her heals in a very, very close, photo-finish second.

Is it just me, but is there just something so awesome about an aggressive Tele rock tone? I mean, it really puts a huge grin on my face! Am I alone in that?

How come you went with the reverse headstock? I am just curious. Do you find it easier to tune with the tuner on the other side? Is an aesthetics thing?

Mostly aesthetic: I saw a video of Joe Perry playin a beat up goldesque top Tele with a reverse headstock, and he made it look just too cool!

Now I aint no Joe Perry (thats for sure!), so it most likely just makes me look even dorkier than I already do........

But I like the way she looks, and I wanted her too look like she is, one of a kind.

Only downside is, stringing her up: I have to start with the high E instead of the low E, and as I am getting more acclimated to re-stringing her in this configuration, it probably will never be as easy as a non-reverse headstock.

But I wouldnt change it for any thing.
