help me nail this down....
I saw a Tele today in Fretware - a Vintage Guitar Shop in Franklin, OH. It was a two tone sunburst, with a rosewood fretboard. Based on its serial #, I believe it was made in the mid to early 90's. I am thinking a late 50's RI, but am not familiar with one. Anyone know what this might be?
Thanks.

sorry. i guess that is a little broad. i guess what i was saying was that it seems like the 2-tones are typically a 50's style or 50's RI, but this one had a rosewood fretboard... just seemed like an unusual combo
i'll look at it again on monday and let you know. maybe get a feel for what kinda pups shes got, what kind of neck, saddles, etc...

Steve Cropper plays one like that on the "Back To Stax" DVD (Cannes, France 1990). Very dark 2-tone sunburst (tobacco burst?), rosewood board and the classic 3-saddle bridge. I've always wondered what model that is. It would be nice if you managed to take some pics of it ... Maybe it's the same model as Steve's? |

I've thought of the same thing in connection with Cropper's 2-tone Tele. It may have been an early/mid-80's standard Tele though, before they changed to a 6-saddle modern bridge, 'cos the Fender color chart for '82-'84 offers Brown Sunburst (532), which ia a dark 2-tone. |
