Anyone got pics of a relic'd poly finish?

I'd really like to see how a poly finish could be relic'd up, if that's possible. Thanks!

(please no debates on the merits of relicing, thanks!)

after this photo, I put a vintage 3-saddle bridge and routed for a middle pup, which i only cut the pickguard to fit the pulls through.

the main relic trick was removing the black paint and poly and painting (as close as I could) to butterscotch, then a thin coat of nitro.

putting a thin coat of nitro helps great for natural relicing.

Nice use of restraint. That one looks pretty nice, actually.

From a purely cosmetic standpoint, this meets my criteria for a "dream guitar:" Black finish, rosewood fretboard, lightly worn.

Great job!

I'm kinda bummed guys. I accidentally "relicked" my poly finish last night. My first ding on my Tele. I smacked it against my amp & took a decent chunk out of one of the edges. It actually looks pretty cool, but it still hurts a little. I am actually of the opinion that Fenders, more so than any other guitar, actually look best when they look well played ( or at least clumsily )

Just a bone stock MIM Tele I relic'd for someone. The thing with relicing, IMO, is to go one of two ways...and either way can be a challenge... 1) light, understated relicing, that looks like it's been played but not abused, and 2) Thoroughly abused, thrashed, trashed, and beaten. The "in betweens" just don't seem to work. I've found something out as well: Beginning players tend to like guitars that are in the "abused" category...completely trashed, rusty hardware, over the top relicing. Players that have been at it a while tend to like the understated or "loved but played" look. Of course there are some exceptions to that, but thats what I've generally found.

As far as "relicing tips".... there are some tips here on this forum, and there are also some good tips at http://www.relicdeluxe.com/
