Tele Neck Woes

I recently bought new neck for one of my project tele's off of E-Bay being careful to by from a dealer that put a picture if "the" neck I was purchasing in the description. Unfortunately, the top of the neck did not show up in the pics, and it has a huge mineral stain about the 5th fret!!! Is there any way to lesson or bleach this spot?

The spot is not on the fretboard, it is up where the fret markers. You can not see it looking straight at the front or the back, but I see it when I play. I tried peroxide, no luck. It seems that I have read a post sometime about a product that can "bleach" wood. Does anyone know what it might be?

Psycho, the product you are looking for is oxalic acid. It can be bought in crystals, or in concentrate, and it may attack the mineralized spot and just enlarge it. This class of product is not usually used for a natural stain like that.

I had a Squier neck with a big spot like that, and I just tinted the neck a little. It stopped being so obvious. I got a USACG on big discount with a stain, tinted it ever so slightly and I can't remember the last time I noticed it, I just forgot about it.
