3 quick questions for Rondo owners (Rondowners ?) or them others what would know:

1 - how are the stock pickups?
2 - how hard to convert to 3x compensated saddles?
3 - weight? (i.e., light or heavy)

Thanks,

I've heard comments on SX before, and this is what I remember.

1. Stock pickups are OK. I've seen lots of folks comment on how good these things out of the box, how they were planning on getting new pups but decided that stock was fine.
2. The bridge and the stringthru holes are too close, so you'd have to do a lot of redrilling to get a standard bridge on there.

If I'm wrong, I'd like to know.

I have one of the SX short scale $119 models.

I tell ya, it looks great!

pickups are ok, need to be adjusted though (?), the whole guitar plays 'quiet' to me, even at amp levels significantly higher than with my tele, sg, stringmaster, etc....

The frets feel like speedbumps almost. My fingers don't move over them like on my other guitars.

The jack for the cable is on the front of the guitar, which would be fine if the whammy bar didn't hit it.

I'm satisfied for a 100 dollar guitar. But it helped me understand some of the tangible differences between a 100 build and a 600 build, that's fer sure.

If only they would make a (double) bound telecaster style, preferrably black...

I have a friend who bought one SX from Rondo with string through and he is very pleased with the guitar. I haven't compared it to my Classic '50 yet.

I have the SX Ash Strat and love it! It did take a lot to get it tuned/innotated originally but now all is stable. The body did crack but I don't know if I did it or if it came that way. I fixed it so all is well. The stock pups sound great to me and it plays excellent and smooth. If you're not used to jumbo frets it will take some getting used to. I have and Agile AL2000 LP copy I bought from them 2 years ago so I am used to the jumbos. I paid $141 shipped for the guitar and it was well worth it. Even if you swap out the pups and/or bridge it is still a great guitar!

I have the SST 57 Strat with P90's in that same color. The color is butt ugly. Has a greenish tint to it. I think a tortoise guard could save it but 40-50 bucks for a guard on a 109 dollar guitar. Can't justify it. Yet. I do like the guitar though.

You can hear the P90's in action here http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...songID=6499980

The SX kicks in on the outro solo at 4:25.

I recently bought an SX tele and have been blown away by the quality. I have upgraded the tuners and the pickups, and put in a 5 way switch.

I hear that sometimes their QC can be hit or miss (as it it for a lot of off shore brands) but I would have no reservations about buying from Rondo again.

No double bounds (I too would love to see one), but I did spot this one with the Ash Burl bound top. Good looking guitar for not a lot of scratch. Sweet 3-saddle on it too.

I think I'll try my luck with one of these. Now -- do I go with the P-90 or or the bound body....

Do a search for this guitar here on the forum. A few people just bought one and they did some reviews on it.

I pulled the trigger on one of teles w/ a p90 this evening, I'll post a review once I get it in. I already have one of their LP copies and it's a great guitar, if extremely heavy.
