If anything I'd put Cobain and Townshend on one par because they both created new and exciting music and stood behind everything with no looking back and regrets over what they did.

What I'm saying is that Cobain isn't really the best example of a faker. When paul Stanley from Kiss smashes a guitar it most often has a prepared neck ready to take one or two blows before snapping like a twig. THAT's fake, that's where it no longer is a statement of anger and frenzy.

It is a strange habit, to be sure.

You don't see doctors smashing up the EKG machine at the end of a successful heart bypass.

I wouldn't smash up a guitar myself, but it is his money, let him do what he wants.

It looked stupid to me decades ago.
