Just upgraded!

I just traded in my 2005 American Tele (alder/rosewood) and put it towards a 2008 American Ash. Wow, does this guitar sound great.

I was second guessing the feel of the neck at first - - it seems to have a thicker/rounder profile than my older guitar (although I understand Fender lists the specs as the same, 9.5" modern-c shape). I'm thinking maybe it has to do with going from a rosewood-slabbed board to holding a single piece neck ... which tricks the hand into feeling it's thicker. Maybe.

Either way, the ash sounds so much nicer than the alder ever did. The bridge pickup isn't nearly as icepick-y, and it just sings. It could be 1/2 the weight, too!

Has anyone else noticed the 08 Americans having slightly thicker or more rounded necks, though? Or is it all in my head?
