I got a strange amp...

I've got an amp from a friend. He didn't know what it was and neither do i. The logo i gone but i found this on the back:

Marlboro 562A.

It's a solid state with two 12" speakers. Also a funny "phasing" effect buildt in. Anyone know anyting about it?? Does it have anything with cigarettes to do??? Can i smoke it??

It sound great, loud and clear, with my V-amp and my "Betty".

I've seen them around...

I think they were made in the 70s, and were pretty inexpensive.

Wow, wasn't that informative!

Cheers, Tim

Marlboro..

was on of a myriad of companies that made 'affordable' amps in the 70's. At that time Fender, Marshall, Ampeg, Sunn ect. made mostly "pro" gear (or student stuff for rich kids).. even PV was pretty pricy. The fun inexpensive ss gear from major makers that we have now really didn't exist . Soooo. companies such as Marlboro, Premier, Kay ect. duked it out for the dollars of beginners, and bedroom players...Sad to say most of this stuff was pretty poor (as were most of the "off brand" guitars that hung in music shops) but if it works for you no problem..It wasn't untill '83/84 that we started to see Squire ect. offering decent gear at resonable prices.
