    I think they're smokin asbestos.....

It might be NOD OFF, I don't see his user name any more, and tune o matic is also in L.A. with the same outrageous prices and similar inventory. A co inky dink? I don't think so, I think he be the same guy who has been parting out a lotta cool stuff. I gotta agree with Peds on those prices, totally off the charts. I agree with Fuzzy that the prices won't go down on the old stuff, it's just that they start way too high. jvc

    Wheel go roun

  • I am knott a part of that circle on eBay. It has gone way off in a tangent from my inner-rest and pocket book.
  • I am a part of another circle where a control assembly kin go fer a $1000 or more.
  • My point is that as we progress into the vintage or semi-vintage market specific numbers of those TELECASTERs were made and as the increase of inner-rest in them shows sew will the price of parts for them.
  • Lets say yew haff a great shape body (I don't HEE! HEE!) for a 1972 TELECASTER or one that is modified tew yer specks and the neck is worn beyond playability. Yew haff a choice er tew. Haff it re-finished and re-fretted and pay the man (PC=woman) and end up with jes that, a re-done deal at a cost of near $400 +/- $200 plus shippin ect. Yew could buy an aftermarket one from the many folks who cell em but again, shippin, decal, finish and on and on plus knott bean "Original".
  • How bad dew yew want yer TELECASTER tew be the same as it waz?
  • Here is a neck jes like yers waz and yes mebby the hoe guitar waz a $1000 at one time but I DID buy a 59 Esquire fer $70 once upon a time. That is history yet here is the neck yew want and it looks tew be in good shape. Dew yew bee-atch about the price or pay it and haff watt yew want or let it slide onto the next fellers/gurls lap?
  • $35,000 comes tew mind fer a Broadcaster when a used reissue @ $1000will be about the same. If yer the buyer of the Broadcaster yer opinion will be a lot different than that of an observer sittin at his/her cornfuser.
  • Watt ever the market will bare and I reiterate, if I hadda getus------------.

  • One more thang before I hush up, lets say yew are one of the many folks roun who kin relic and make a body look and feel jes like that 72 and yew are of the less-than-honest ilk and yew know yew kin git $2000 fer a 72 on eBay mite yew wanna pay that much and make a profit?---------some will I gar-on-tee-tolt yew.

As well as with those $1000 control assemblies...

As you say, you can only sell something for what someone is willing to pay for it. I don't think any neck is worth that, but it may be for some.

The problem with any of this stuff is that a real 72 body with a replacement 72 neck is no longer original (but how could you tell?). Likewise, a 54 with a replacement control assembly is no longer original (but, again....).

I don't know what's worth what, anymore. At least if I roll my own, I know what I can sell the parts for.
