Bought First Tele, Need Advice...
Greetings -
I've made my first step into the world of electric guitars, buying a 1996 stock MIM Tele in mint condition (maple neck, black body, tortoise pickguard). I currently own an Acoustic Image Contra amp for my bass, and bought a Boss GT-6 unit last week - figured I could coax the tones I wanted out of this combo, as the amp tone is super clean. However, I'm getting a lot of noise (I'm guessing from the single coil PUPs) and am having a hard time figuring out how to eliminate it. I'm at the point where I'm considering buying another amp. I still get the noise even when I bypass the tweeter on the amp and roll back the treble. Anyone out there using somethingsimilar and/or have any advice? I'd greatly appreciate it. Marc |

I agree with Fuzzy
seems like grounding problems is popular with MIM's. Have to hear it though. Don't know how many times I've thought my Tele or Amp was dyin' on me, only to realize an hour later it was the cable. Sheesh, spend the money on a nice geetar and I'm too cheap to buy a $20 cable.. :?

I'm assuming the GT-6
is some kind of multi effector digital goodie..these things are also a preamp (for running direct) and produce A LOT of noise when run thru your amp..So they usually have some kind of noise gate and or level control..get down with your manual and see how yours works..you should be able to calm thigs down quite a bit..

Teles do that...
Shielding and grounding and (if need be) noiseless pickups will reduce/eliminate noise. You might start with the shielding and check the grounding first. Or, like many of us, just live with it.
Good Luck! :)
