Identifying Telecaster mfg time
I recently bought a "Butterschotch Blonde" Squier Telecaster, with the stock black pick guard in a pawn shop for $100. It's in amazingly great shape and plays very, very well. I've taken it apart and taken pics of the stickers on the neck and the body and there doesn't seeem to be any mods to it at all.
I've seen a lot of discussion on here about when certain Korean-made Squier Telecasters were made. It seems that even though a guitar with the serial number E1009672 appears to be around 1981, the popular concensus is that it was actually closer to the end of the decade, maybe 1988 or 1989. Is it possible to identify a more exact time with the model and lot numbers? I have taken my recent "pawn shop find" apart and here is what is on the neck and the body stickers: Neck sticker: (Easier to read since it only has a "clear" finish over the sticker) H (some sort of korean symbol) C Lot M TL-31-4 Body sticker: (A little difficult to read, since the sticker has had the "butterschotch" paint sprayed over it) H (same Korean symbol) A Lot M TL-31-4 Do these have any significance with the mfg date? I'm thinking it is just the model numbers and the lot's of each piece. Anyone have any ideas? Stephan D. Cleburne, Tx |
