New Ash AS Tele
Has anyone tried the new American Series Ash Tel in honey blonde. Fender says it is based on the '52RI and the pups are vintage sounding. I thinking about another Tele and from the sound of it on the Fender web site, this is what I am looking for.

The american ash and HWY1 texas Tele are alot alike.
Compare the specs on those and you will see they are almost the same guitar. 12" radius on the Texas 9.5 on the American ash both have rolled edges on the fretboard which is great. Looks like they both have the same body but the hey1 is lacquer and the American Ash is poly. |

I own one.
I love it. Here's some pictures: ![]() (as it came) ![]() (WD bakelite guard) The actual color doesn't show up on film very well. It's got a fairly thick coat of semi-transparent honey blonde paint. The grain shows through nicely in person, but it's so glossy that the camera won't pick it up. The pickups sound great. The bridge is fairly hot, and it's got the "Delta-tone" notched tone knob. Neck pickup isn't too dark, and both maintain clarity throughout all tone knob positions. I raised the neck pickup significantly from how it came stock, and cranked the bass side up higher than the treble. It sounds fairly balanced now and doesn't drop off so abruptly from the bridge pickup. Neck has a nice satiny finish with a 12" radius. Plays exceptionally nice. Fretwork is excellent. Nut is centered nicely. I replaced the tuners with locking Schallers. If you have any other specific questions, I can try to answer them. I also have a lot of high resolution digital shots if you want more pictures, but they're kind of large to post here. |

Some higher quality pictures if anyone else is interested. If not, I'm more than happy to stare at them myself. Mmmmmmmmmmmm... |

It's got one of my favorite necks. I own one in natural finish and my stock pickups were pretty balanced from the beginning and that's the reason I didn't touch it since
allthough I had set of Bill Lawrence pups in mind. You''ll love the playability and tone and I think the factory's set up in my guitar is one of the finest I"ve experiensed.
