1958 Strat In the "Garage Sale"? (SCAM DELTED)

Ok guys...your guess is as good as mine on this. Anyone know this person? That sure appears to be one fine Str*t (just can't say it :-).

We don't often see such offerings over there. Just thought I'd call it to y'alls attention for some healthy conversation.

That's my birth year!

I called my wife right away and told her about it.

She said, "where are you gonna get the money?". As if to say, 'if you could get the money, you can have it'.

?????????????

That is unbelievable that she would say something like that. The danger is, I have access to far greater credit line than any human should ever think about.

Does anybody think this would be a good investment if this guitar was for real and as described?

(I'm having fun daydreaming about this for about 20 minutes today - it ain't gonna happen for me).

Anyone know the person selling it?

I'd be curious to know if this person is a frequent member of the TDPRI. The hotmail address makes me nervous.

Dana...

...That's PRECISELY what I was thinking. Just seems a little bit odd...not to say it's a fake, but at this time of the year ANYTHING could be.

Some folks tend to get a little shady 'round the ol' Holidays when they need $$.

Hopefully I'm way off base, here.

Seems too good to be true...

...otherwise it would be gone in a NY minute! Here on the east coast, I see plenty of 63-65 Strats and everybody wants $10K for 'em, regardless of condition.

A superb looking '58, what would be the market value of that? $8K, I don't think so! Caveat Emptor. But if someone were thinking of buying me a Christmas gift, my address is ....

Agreed

Bay State Vintage in Boston sells 58' strats starting at $15k. Why on earth would she let it go for 8k? Seems a little too good to be true, and you know the old saying; if it's too good to be true, it probably is.

You may want to look at this link to American Vintage Guitars before sending your check:

100% Scam

This 58 Strat in the Garage Sale was, as suspected, a scam and the has been ad deleted and the poster banned.

Seems you can't trust even the Garage Sale like you used to be able to.

Sorry,
Paul Green

Might have to make a new rule if you have a Vintage guitar for sale be sure and show it along with todays newspaper that way you can be sure that person owns the guitar and just isnt posting pics from another store who really owns the guitar.

Remember back in the 60's when you could actually trust people paul?? LOL

No it is not sold yet, the history on this guitar is that back when the '58s
first came out my father purchased one for me (I being 2 years old), seeing
as I was to young to play he stored it away for me, I only recently found
this guitar in one of our old chests. I have no use for it, and need the
money, so decided to sell. Attached are pictures, please email me back if
you are still interested.
Thanks,
Martha

I replied back:

Why does it look like this one?

saw the same ad on gbase classifieds

Same email address anyway. I didn't see the garage sale ad before it was deleted. The pic on the gbase site is not one of the ones from Americanvintageguitar.com.

$8500? What a great deal......where's my checkbook?

if I would have known that it was this easy to sell guitars that don't belong to me I would have done it a long time ago.

Does anyone want to buy a 1958 telecaster, or a 1960 strat I have about 10 of each. just tell me what color you want and I will email you a pict of it. just send me the $1000.00 first and I will send thte guitar to you, and just becaus I am a nice guy I will also give you some fine land in Florida just for asking.
