who can cut a Tele body for me?
I'm going to Lousiana this weekend, my brother in law has some large pieces of sinker cypress lumber for me.
I think it's big enought to get one or two bodies out of, even if they have to be pieced up. So a couple of questions, how big roughly do I need a piece for a Tele body, as I may have to cut the slab to get it into my car. And who here can cut and route a body for me once I get the wood? I'm in Memphis TN but I can ship the wood. If you can do this and are interested please send me a PM. I think this will be a cool project, a real "swampcaster". Sinker cypress is wood is from old cypress trees that literally sank in the swamps, sometimes the logs are hundreds of years old. |

Guitar Mill is in Murfreesboro. They sell wood but they also cut bodies. They might be willing to cut the wood that you bring them(?)

Sounds like a fun project, Ringo.
Where in Louisiana are you gonna be? Hard to imagine the pieces wouldn't fit in a regular car. Normally I would go with USACG but you are awful close to Murfreesboro. Yeah, those sinkers would really be the only cypress to try. This grow back baldcypress sapwood is notoriously unstable. Perhaps the pieces will be wormy. Pecky cypress Teles, wow.

Hey Bubba
I'm going to the Baton Rouge area, my mother in law lives in Prairieville, her som who has the wood lives around Hammond.
I've seen the wood, it's a real big piece, over 6 feet long, and I'm going down in a rental car so that's why I may have to cut it some to get it in the trunk or back seat / floorboard. It's not pecky cypress, that does look cool. I'll post some pics of the wood when I get back. And I'll be sure to get my seafood fix while I'm down there! Restock on Tony's, jumbalaya mix etc... |
