teles with contours?

which/how many fender teles were made with body countours and/or elbow contours? I'm asking for a few reasons, but partly because I am trying to track down a specific guitar that I saw around 1996 that had 3 pups, a 5 way switch, tele neck and maybe a tele body. it was definitely a fender product, but I don't think it was a nashville. any ideas?

You're probably thinking about the 96 Tele Plus. Did it have binding?

You may be thinking of this one from Fender Japan.

The MIJ '90s Telecaster Deluxe (that's the name - '90s Telecaster Deluxe) sounds like what you're describing. I had one for a while, very sweet guitar. Mine was a FotoFlame sunburst with pearloid pg. Strat pups in the neck and middle, Tele bridge, 5-way Strat switch.

thanks, everyone! I'm pretty sure it's the deluxe. I don't think it was bound, as I'm pretty sure about the elbow contour.
Those who have contoured bodies, do you feel that it affects your tone or playability positively or negatively?

Like many here, I came to the Tele from Strat-land so I was already sold on the benefits of the contours. Now my 2 Teles both have the tummy and elbow cuts and my 2 Strats both have the upper horns trimmed back to approximate the Tele dimension. I'll confess that they are not beautiful and I know they would offend the sensibilities of a lot of folks --I just feel like I've married the best features of both designs and I really like the consistent feel from axe to axe. I can't detect any difference in tone.

On a related note, has anyone ever tried to extend the top horn a little for better balance? Not Strat cutaway, but more of a forward bulge?

Just asking....

I like that neck, the way the little corners of the headstock have the dark wood.
