First Timer - Amer DLX Tel
Hello
This is my first post here and I am new to the telecaster guitar scene. Having never played one before, I have no frame of reference when I picked up that dang American Deluxe with the aged cherry finish and fell in love with the beauty of the guitar and the tone. I had kind of boiled it down to the std American natural ash or this one, but the dealer didn't have the ash model so here we are. I have lurked for some time and have enjoyed reading your posts. BTW, I sold my American made steinberger to finance this little puppy. I had been changing out pick ups to try to thin the sustain and the tone out when it occurred to me that I was subconsciously creating a Tele....that's when I went out played it and put the balls in motion to acquire one. I know to the real tele expert these may not be the real deal (SC pick-ups/S-1 switching, etc), but I have to say that I am really enjoying this guitar. Anyways, take care folks. Great job with this Tele community. Shawn |

Welcome to the forum and to the Tele world. Congrats on your new Tele. But the unwritten rule is: New Tele, you MUST post pictures. So when you can, post some pics of your new guitar.
Bill

And that is all that matters. If you enjoy it, it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks! A real Telecaster doesn't necessarily have to be a 52RI, that's why Fender makes all kinds. The Deluxes are really nice. Is yours bound with the tummy contour, cherry burst? Congratulations Shawn and welcome! |

That cherry-burst is something special. I've never sen a bad picture of one, even from a camera phone!
People here are open-minded about the different models. They gave me the courage to love the 21-fret neck w/ 7.2" radius of the 52RI as well as the American Deluxe body. I ended up blending the two: ![]() --gh |
