Best Fret Size For Rock Guitar (Dunlop 6105, 6150, 6125, 6130))??

if i were to ask what kind of fret size is favored by rock players (on average) that do lots of lead work like bends and tapping, what would the answer be? what's the logic behind it, to they want a narrower and taller fret for easier bending or do they want a lower and wider fret for lots of fingerboard feel

if i'm trying to build a guitar that will extend its playabilty and versatility (within an acceptable range) into several styles (a la SRV, Eric Johnson, Van Halen...) would i be better off to stick with an all purpose kind of fret (like the 6105) or would it be alright to go with something a little larger and wider (like a 6125)

Mucho Appreciado,
~Joel~

I like jumbo frets. The bigger, the better.

Jumbo. High to enable bending and hammer ons. This one is pretty well documented. Flatter radius too...12" and higher

6105. I like 'em tall and skinny.

I don't think there's a fretsize/style correlation. The anatomy of everyones hands is different. I think it has much more to do with the individuals fingers and how they interact with the string, fretwire, and board wood. There are lots of fingers out there and they are all built a bit different.

Use what makes you feel and play confident. The only downside is that there is a lot of trial and error involved.

I keep intending to do a few in 6125, but I end up chickening out and getting 6105 instead; just did 3 more that way.
It is the fret size I actually would like to see more in production guitars and frankly I don't. But, the 6000ish sizing scheme is so messed up, who knows anymore what they're really building necks with this week?

Seems like anywhere I looked a while ago, 6105 was the most popular fret size. Personally, I don't pay any attention to size at all. I pick it up and play it. If it feels good great.

I play Rock and I always thought that I could adapt to every neck and fret size but I was wrong...
I've had a neck refretted with 6105's and I did not like em...much too tall for my taste.
I'd rather have a fret that's a little wider and less tall. Just ordered a neck from USACG with those new 6125's and from what I heard they much be exactly what I was looking for.
Good luck on your quest for the ideal fret size...
