08 Am Std Telecaster vs Grosh
I played a new Grosh tele style guitar through a Swarts amp today and bought the amp. Is sounded great with the Grosh. The Grosh was very lite and had a wonderful neck. Attention to detail was what is expected on a $2699 instrument. But when I plugged-in with my AM Std at home, the sound was surprisingly good. I believe it sounds every bit as good as the Grosh. So in my opinion, the 08 Teles must be very good.

In the +$1500 market for guitars, you're dealing with very subtle nuances. Yeah, an 08 tele probably plays pretty darn good....but that little extra the high end builders (like Grosh) put into their guitars makes a difference for some people. I've played $300 guitars that smoke....and $10,000 guitars that suck eggs. But...there are people buying both - otherwise they wouldn't be in the market in the first place. For what it's worth...skip the Grosh and get that Swart amp!!! Now that's something that will affect your tone in a huge way.

I bought the Swart Space Tone, and it seems to do everything well. Its loud for 5 watts and stays clean until about 6 on the volume. Then its a nice sound that will have me doing without pedals. Above 10, its just more gain not volume, so chords kind of break up but lead lines sing. At 12, I use the volume on the guitar to shape my sound. I really like this amp. The build quality is evident from the tweed finish to the visible tubes. It also has a tone knob that is very useful. At idle it is dead quiet, and it stays quiet even with the single coils. The shop let me have it for $850 out the door(they ate the tax). What can I say...for a practice amp it is great.
