What pickguard for my Tele?
This must get asked at least five times a day, but I decided after some screwdriver spinning that I prefer having the neck pickup I added on my MIM 50's Esquire (below) to be above the pickguard (sigh... and it looked so good, too). So what do you think: white, 3-ply white, mint, cream, black, black 3-ply, gold anodized aluminum, or tortise shell? (I'm keeping my mind open to options
P.S.- I'm leaning toward 3-ply black since I have a GFS Fatbody neck pickup and that masks it a bit, but suggest away! Feel free to include pics of your white blondes for reference, too (hint hint). ![]() |

I’m thinking about the same thing – new pickguard for my new White Blonde 50s MIM Tele. I’ll probably buy black one…

Well that's a good thing because that's what I have on the way for it now! I got the 3-ply one from GFS because they are soooo inexpensive compared to everyone else ($15 SHIPPED!) and the last pickguard I bought, a mint green Esquire guard for another guitar, turned out quite nice. Don't worry, pictures will come....

I say if its Blonde...Blackguard it! BUT, lately I feel that there is something about White Blonde, White Guard, Maple neck that is such a beautiful look. I say leave it the way it is. But, obviously...your call.

Blackguard on a blondie. But there's black and there's black - the triple ply like on nrps above (which will sound terrible w/o strings) that I had on a red one was very glossy with a slightly blue sheen which made me feel queasy. That one went mint (complimentary colour).
Attachment 10802Attachment 10803 You forgot parchment. Single-ply black .or. parchment. There again, I just slipped an aged cream one over the blondie and it looked good too, better than the parchment or the white... Last edited by jefrs : June 9th, 2008 at 06:31 PM. |
