I have fallen in love again!

I have not played a Tele type guitar for almost 2 years. My sister bought me a strat and I have been playing that. A thread in the amplifier section on reverb got me thinking. I had always used reverb a lot like it was what you where sapposed to do. Well after reading that thread and thinking. I turned it off. What a difference. For the better. I like my strat tone more, and more to it I love my Tele again. Even clean I just loved it with no reverb. I just jammed with it for an hour and only stopped because my bad back was killing me. No my Tele is not a Fender. It is a douglas. But it sounds good to me. Might get new pickups to try one of these days just for kicks. But I am loving my tone of my Tele now. I am not saying I will not use reverb again, but I see it in a different light. I thought everyone used it all the time and it was just soemthing you where sapposed to use. I guess I will be reading the Tele post more often now.

Nice slab of wood there, Bill. Great color. Headstock would have to go if it were mine. But that's just me. FINE SPECIMEN. I agree about reverb... it does have it's place.

OK. As requested, here are a few of the actual guitar I have. The others where from the sight I bought it from. I had to wait for my camera to come home. My daughter took it again. Well my digital SLR will be here soon.

Oh yeah. This guitar is awesome, especially since it was $129.99.

That is what sold me on it. I was not in the market for one. But saw that and had to get one. It is a great guitar.

Is that veneer or photo finish?

First of all I think it's a great looking guitar and I may be ordering one myself. However what's advertised as an ash burl top may be done with a photographic process similar to the MIJ Fender Foto-Flames. Either that or williamfriggle was sold the actual guitar pictured on Rondo Music's website.

Beautiful! What gauge strings are you using? Got any modding plans in mind?

Randy ........... I think you should definitely order one ........ a picture of another one would definitely answer the question. On a $130 guitar I don't think a not so real top is a big deal.

I'll have courtney (my niece) take some pictures... she is a photographer so they should be pretty good examples... I held off ordering mine until Rob got his.... he was gonna vet the quality and if it is/was good enough, I am gonna get one, get him to fenderize the neck and put my variax in it... should be cool!

Jack, whattya think? I have a foto flame strat (impulse buy in the late 90's--> 225.00 at GC) it is a good guitar and has not had any of the trauma I've read about... I play it sparingly.. but it is cool... so if this is a foto flame thats okay... if it is a veneer... bingo!

The variax thing would be great because I dig the models but hate the guitar... Here is a guy who did it.

I have this Foto-Flame (body only) Telecaster. For the longest time I thought it wasn't Foto-Flame but then I compared pictures of the front and back and could see the pattern repeated.

I have dealt with Rondo before and when it is a photo top he says that. But maybe not. It would be weird that I got the actual one in his photos. But someone had to get it. LOL! I will email him and ask him.
