Johnny Hiland free show (Maine content)
I have it from a good source that Johnny Hiland will be playing at the 2008 American Folk Festival on the Bangor waterfront in August (for dates and such, visit www.americanfolkfestival.com )
He'll most likely do more than one set throughout the weekend. All for Free!

The festival is no stranger to the tele pickers. In years past we've had Bill Kirchen, Redd Volkaert, Dale Watson plus Wanda Jackson and Jerry Douglas.

Hey all...Yes, Johnny is scheduled to do the American Folk Festival in Bangor this year. Of course, keep watching his myspace just in case something changes. Right now, he is scheduled and we are pumped that we get to come back to Maine for a little bit. Hope to see ya'll out there. Kim

We haven't heard any news on England this year so far. That doesn't mean it will be out of the picture. The folks at PRS are currently working on dates for him and some European dates could be in the works. |

I think Roger Miller said that in a song a long time ago.........
I've been intimately involved with production of the American Folk Festival (originally the National Folk Festival) since it's inception. As nasonm stated we've had some great tele pickers over the years plus a lot of other great acts/performers from other venues. The event started off as a big and unknown gamble in our city of about 33,000. The event has grown steadily every year and last year we had over 160,000 festivalgoers for the weekend. It's the last weekend in August - a wonderful time of year in Maine. I encourage and invite everyone who can to come to Maine and enjoy the AFF. BTW, admission is free, and if anyone's wondering, no - I have no financial interest or reward from the event whatsoever - it's just a great time with lots of good music on the Penobscot River waterfront. Hope to see you there !! Jim
