The guitar might well be genuine but when you read some of the sales pitches it's enough to put you off, if "Grandads" Strat was only played a few times then put back in the case why does it have "some finish gone on the sides of the guitar" ?
Well, he does say "Take your chance" but £2000 for a 70's Strat ?, seems a bit steep doesn't it ?

When did Fender move to black scratchplate/accessory kit for 70's guitars?

you often see very clean fender guitars with side wear which is case abrasion.
a common thing even in lightly played guitars. thats not a big number for a 72 strat. too much for me , but thats the number. |

Nothing jumps out from those pics as "wrong" but you'd need to see a bit more before opening the wallet.
I'm not too sure there's too many who would see early '70s strats as the holy grail, as by this time the CBS meddling was well and truly underway. Thats more than a fair bit of cash in anybodys terms. |

I really detest those overgrown headstocks from that era. They didn't jack with the tele sizes, tho'. I guess even the d/a's at CBS knew a good thing when they saw it.
