Need help identifying this body if possible

Just purchased this body on eBay, loved the color.

Seller was not sure if it was a Fender body and here's what he had to say as far as markings go:

"The only mark that I can make out is a stamp that APPEARS to read C 18354. There is one orange dot sticker in the bridge pickup rout and a white one over a red one in the neck pickup cavity. Both have been clear-coated over."

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

the color looks like a squier affinity... check the thickness.

You mean the thickness of the finish or the guitar?

It's not a Squier Affinity. Body it normal thickness and it has vintage routing. Larger pictures or pictures of the neck pocket and pickup routs might help. I don't recall Fender doing a clear orange but I wasn't paying attention to guitars in the '70s, '80s or '90s.

Normal Telecaster body thickness is 1 3/4 inches. Affinity Squiers arel less ....... 1/1/2 or 1 5/8 .......somewhere in there.

I can tell you what it isnt maybe that will help.

Its not MIM or USA or HWY1. The MIM's and HWY1's have a little extra notch cut out inside the bridge pickup cavity.

So its an MIJ of some sort.

It sorta looks like one of those MIJ's in Capri Orange.

Good deal. I really dig the orange color (hook 'em horns). Gonna put a white esquire pickguard on it and do a stealth pickup or two underneath it. Also think I'll put a bigsby on it. should be a lot of fun & very unique when I get done with it!

Mark ............ I don't think it's Capri Orange since it's a transparant finish.

It definitely looks like a '50s Reissue .......... I just noticed it had a 5-hole pickguard.

I agree its not as orange as the one I posted.

Need to see a clear pic of the neck pocket that would help more than anything.

Fender's about the only company I've seen with the notch at the base of the neck to adjust the vintage truss rod through. My guess is its a Fender, Capri Orange - MIJ. Nice body, though. Lovely color!

I have a Fernandes Tele copy with heel adjust neck and the adjusting notch in the body.

So everyone's pretty sure it's at the least a Fender body rather than just a copy? That's good to know. As soon as I get it I will take some more close up pics of the cutouts.

How about posting the Ebay link there might be clues in there also.

Most of the time the Japanese Teles will have TL and a number printed in the neck pocket. TL52 is very common.

Received the body yesterday, really cool color, about like a Gretsch. Here are some more closeup pics if they help anyone identify it...C18354 is stamped in the neck pocket...thanks...

Whatever it is I think the orange is a refinish. I think it was originally the color in the cavities. However, I wonder why they would mask the cavities.

Yeah, I think it was definitely a refinish but they did a nice job on it.
