New SX Tele=Ridiculous! (Good Ridiculous, not Bad)

The holes are too close to the neck, so a standard vintage bridge positions too far forward using the exist. string thru holes. Might be able to make it work - perhaps relieve the PG opening, but you would end up with very little room for saddle travel/intonation. Also the breakover angle on the saddles would be very severe ( around 90 degres on the lower strings). That's why I redrilled the holes from the top about 1/2" further back as noted above. And yes, the standard bridge is the long aisian style a la Squire - 3 mounting screws @ back/2 @front.

Those Burl top Douglas do look pretty and some potential for a buck-thirty.

The lack of bridge cut on the gaurd is kind of a surprise, almost didn't notice!
Maple board perhaps?
I've never played any of these import Teles but there are some tempting ones available these days.
Though not much of a gamble, guess you have to buy one to try one?

Last year i went for an SX. The Result... Cant buy those guitars. Maybe the sound is good but the feeling that you have of the guitar is not as i like. Cant play an SX after i have tried an MIA or a MIM.

BTW one of my fav. guitar is a Prince (here it cost twice than an SX) but the quality is as good as a MIM and the sound... Texas Specials. Great Mix (You can see it on my avatar).

How about the SX Teles.....what's the neck pocket situation like on these, for upgrading the neck using licensed parts? Anybody know on this?

My SX Tele(STL50?) would take my '52ri and USACG neck perfectly, and vice-versa. I actually used the SX neck on my '52ri for a long time....over a year anyway. Same neck pocket dimensions.

But my SX was heavy, and the lower bout was wider than factory Fenders so it wouldn't fit into my tweed cases. The door would close on the body.

They really are a good deal. I feel the same about Squires, by the way.

Just an FYI on this issue...I emailed kurt and this is the reply I got...

If you have floresant lights in your house it may appear a bit green but it's fine under normal lighting - yes I expect some in powder blue by June

Now this is regarding the new P90 tele with the p90 in the neck and a single coil in the bridge. But I am looking forward to the powdered blue one though!
