Late 1990s MIM Telecasters.

This one from 1999 is beautiful, and the price is great too.

Do they make them with the same sunburst today in Mexico? Or is it just that I haven't seen or found one for sale, yet?

I think they still offer the three-tone sunburst in that model. I think the reason there's so much bidding activity on that e-bay auction, is that the guitars were somehow better back then. Mine's a '98 (50s Classic) and it's terrific. And the pricing's gone up on the new ones, as well. Somewhere in the $425-450 range, new.

The older sunburst seems to have a brighter yellow color, with more red, and a thinner black edge. Just a different technique on the sunburst. They still make sunburst MIM Tele Standards, always a few on ebay.

Here's the 1999 you liked:

Heres a 2006:

The ebay ad is a 1999 MIM STD veneered body. They were $300 new in 99 so he is already $25 over what a new one cost when it was purchased.

Considering that they do cost over $1000 here with the current USD rate, it's not that easy find as many as you do over there.

Veneered you say? Hm, ok. What I really like is when you see the wood grains in the burst, and since almost all sunbursts are different, it's not always that you like it.

This one is a MIM for sale close to the city I live, 1-2 years old for about $670. Dark picture so it's hard to see what it's like. But probably not like the 90s MIM. Vendolin ad MIM Telecaster

BTW. Are the new custom shop Custom Classic Telecaster the only normal Telecaster in Ash with 3T SB in production these days?

This one seems nice, but it's a thinline.
