Nocaster No Walnut Truss Rod Plug

I noticed my 2000 Relic Nocaster has a maple truss rod plug opposed to the walnut plugs more commonly used. Anyone else have the same feature? I wonder if it was done purposefully? I know some originals had maple plugs.

My '05 Nocaster Relic has a maple plug too. Fender used to put in maple plugs in some of the original Nocasters in 1951, so the Custom Shop decided to put in a maple plug in some of the Nocasters they build now...So, yes, it's done on pupose...

I like the look of the maple plug. It looks very 'clean.'
