What pickup do you have in the neck? It looks like it might be a Jason Lollar Charlie Christian.

May I ask, any special tips on installing a CC rider neck pup in this fashion. How precisely is it routed, and mounted?

Nice build and you're lucky it's a thinline because I think if she knows you call her the "Ball & Chain" she may crack your skull with the thing! If it were a solid body it may hurt a bit more!

i have a routing template i use. the guy that makes these pups for me cut it with his laser. i use string ferrules on the back for adjustments. here's one of the bigsby tele's i've done with this option the pickups are faux tortoise shell, and i also use it for the inlays on the neck...see photos:

Thanks, that opens my eyes. I'll do a test mule on a Squier, see if that's something I can approximate with stone age tools.

thanx. i use closed cell foam as a spring to keep the pickup out.

So is the foam essentailly the same size as the pickup, or do you only need a little piece. Got a pic? Is closed cell foam is the white stuff that has air bubbles? Like the stuff that's used for packing.

the open cell is like what is in pillows in couches, and deteriorates over time. yes closed cell is like what is used for packing.

That's a good idea, saves the spring flying off accross the room when you are trying to install it.
I shouldn't look at bodies like that, I can smell the sawdust and my eyes are glazing.

no, but when i retire in ten years i will. i'm just now purchasing a CNC and laser cutter trying to take it to the next step. it will be a big difference from 1979 when i started. cutting out bodies with a hacksaw.......
