Since the global catastrophy and electricity is no longer available..I will just sit here and play my Martin D-18 Special (1 of 15 worldwide) and think of those days when my Tele 52 RI FSR really sounded awsome.

Good question: if there was a fire and I had to make a snap choice based on emotion, it would be my 1995 Am Std Telecaster that I bought with money left to me in my Grandmother's will.

However if I had to whittle it down to just one guitar that can do it all and do it well, I'd go with my Les Paul. But I would hate myself for giving up the Tele.

Thankfully I don't have to make that decision so I'm keeping both!

If I lost all my guitar in a disaster and only had enough money to buy just one guitar then I would get the 52 RI Hot Rod: mini humbucker in the neck to remind me of the Les Paul, and Tele single coil in the bridge to twang with. Put 'em together in the middle position and they sound great.

But now that you guys are talking acoustics, then I would probably go with a D-28...

+ 1 Chabby, I just finished two hours on my G.E., and the tones I get with that guitar and my self built Allen Accomplice are a sheer delight!!

If I could only have one it would have to be my Godin LGXT. It's not actually my favorite guitar, but it's by far the most versatile. At least I'd be able to get both single and hum tones with an acoustic pickup as well.

Not a decision I really want to make but, to use the "grab one guitar in a fire" scenario from above, it would have to be this one:

Probably my Esquire but I'd settle for any variation of a vintage fender telecaster with a one piece maple neck.

Cool looking guitar, what is it?

Are those the Dimarzio humbuckers that fit in a p-90 slot? I used to have some of those, great pickukps!

My pick for only one guitar

I'll go with my Nocaster thinline. I added a glendale lipless bridge and a 5-way.

I love guitars in general. Tele's and Gretsches are my big weakness. I guess if I could only have one...it would be a Gretsch Power Jet. Pretty much would cover everything for me musically. If I had to grab one in a fire from the guitars I presently own, it would have to be my Gretsch 6116 PTV hollow. I love my '52 Thin Skin, but the Gretsch would be harder to replace. One of the great things about Telecasters is you can get a real nice one at a reasonable price.

I have a 1958 Gretsch 6120 that's my keeper if reduced to one guitar.

However, I can't imagine life without a Tele. I'm going to buy a Nocaster within the next couple of months. I'm setting the wife up for this move now!

Electric: New Aerodyne Tele with the P-90 at the neck. One of these days I'll upgrade to a hotter P-90 and bridge pickup but it's pretty nice as it is.

Bass: Godin fretless 5 string.

Acoustic: 1995 Beneteau 6 string flattop with rosewood/spruce/ebony.

Amp: Traynor YCV50, though maybe the YCV20.

Mandolin: Moon flattop.

If I had to only have one of these it would be the Beneteau.

Hmm one guitar?

I think I'll go with Brad Paisley's '68 pink paisley Fender Tele (the original one). Man, that's one beauty I'd give anything to play.

If that's not possible then any paisley-finish telecaster made by Bill Crook will have to suffice.

Only one electric guitar?

That's the question I asked myself about a year ago - just before I bought a Wildwood 10 sunburst Tele.
