What does this mini switch do?

This MIM Deluxe Nashville Telecaster belonged to my brother in law. It has the 5 way Strat-O-Tone pickup selector and a mini switch has been added on the control plate. It affects the sound in all but one of the 5 selections. What is this mod called?

Since it's on a Nashville, it may be wired like an American Deluxe. If so, you should be able to get seven options. The toggle would allow the neck and bridge pickup together and all three pickups together, probably in positions 4 & 5 with the toggle "on."

Try all switch positions with the toggle either "on" or "off", and contact the pickups with a screwdriver to check which ones are switched.

It's for priming the ejector seat when you have hecklers.

Open it up and see if it's wired like this old American Deluxe.

If so, the switching diagram is found here

That's on the first toggleing. The second activatates this thing creating mini-blackholes, the reversal of the Big Bang, in short, the end of the universe.

Actually, it's probably a phase switch, like odieman says.
