Introducing Walter
The other day I heard a guy use the term "Walter" to describe something getting messed up. As in, "It got all Waltered up." I'd never heard it before, but here is my 2 pickup Esquire "Walter". I love the banana shape to the top of the pickup.
Very cool sounding toploader! ![]() ![]() ![]()

I don't know much about the guitar at this point guys. I haven't pulled anything apart. Just did a basic setup.
The bridge pickup certainly doesn't look like the standard Esquire Custom Shop pickup. I've seen a pickup with the beveled magnets before, I just can't remember where. It has a very squawky Tele tone that is so expressive! Lots of fret wear and gigging dings on top of the factory relic finish. It looks, feels and smells like an old guitar. I'll do some more research and try to find more about this beast!

I've been looking and I can't find any information on this pickup. Does anyone recognize it? I haven't pulled the bridge, so I don't know what it says on the bottom. The top is bent up on both ends and REALLY looks like an old pickup. Thanks!

So, Walter means messed up in a real cool, seriously nice way?
You know how this works, pretty soon Walter will mean "Hmmm, when can I get one like that?"

My name is Walter! I guess the term could've originated from someone who knows me.....I've been known to "mess things up".....in a good way? not sure about that.
Nice guitar though! Looks like a player. Love the neck, is it a 7-1/2" radius? |

Beautiful Tele! I know that the Vintage Noiseless pups have beveled poles like those, but I don't believe thats what you have.
