market value of 1991 US Tele?
It's a 1991 American Standard. I know the answer: it's worth what someone will pay for it, play it and see if you like it, etc. Got it. But give me a general idea of what one of these might go for if you can.......saw one used for 400 and it just got me wondering.
Thanks - |

Well, the new pricing ususally sets the pace for the used market. And they're over a grand. So, depending on condition, I'd say $500-700. I think $400 would be low, unless it was in poor shape and needed work. I see them selling on eBay fairly regularly in that range.

head over to ebay and do an advanced search for your guitar. look for "completed auctions only" and you'll see what they've sold for in the recent past. great way to tell what you're looking at!

I should clarify: I don't have pics because I don't have the guitar. I saw it used in a store for 400. Seemed to be original and in good condition, but I didn't have time to play it at the time.
And thanks for the suggestion on completed auction listings - I wasn't aware of how to search those but I'll try it. |

If it's in a Store...and a American Standard, for $400..it must have some issues, or the store owner doesn't own a Blue Book ?

, which is kinda strange but good for the buyer's market.Just give it a good going over and play it. If you like it, get 'er done.... pay the man. See below*

Well, y'all keep in mind this guitar is barely past half way to vintage. It is a '91 AS and nothing more. Like I've said before and mean no denigration if you like 'em and play 'em.... they are just very generic and lacklustre to my ear. That doesn't mean somebody else can't love an Am Standard and really rip it up when they play it. but for me, no thanx. I would be a buyer for speculation/trading fodder at $400 out the door.

If it has issues that can be fixed, easily, it might be a good deal. Mechanical and electronics issues are easy to fix. If it needs a fret job or major fret work, I'd pass. A replcement neck or good luthier fret job will cost you >$200 and good-to-excellent shape American Standards can be bagged around $500-$600 in primo shape.
