Gonna pull the trigger on my 69 RI thinline tonight!

I was tired of my 2000 AM Se and felt it was time for a classic RI. I traded it even for my other tele. Ohhhh! 3-tone sunburst and maple neck and perloid guard, yummy! I have a long gig tonight, so it's gonna have fun!

Does this mean I have to update my signature!

    Different animal...

...don't get me wrong. I love mine! Light as a feather and beautiful to behold. The baseball bat neck, 7.5" neck radius & narrow frets may take some getting used to after your 'other' Tele. You'll also have a heck of a time reaching your tone and volume controls while your playing (if you're into train whistle & wah type tricks). These Thinlines are also VERY bright & twangy. Watch out for feedback - Feel the breeze coming outa the 'f' hole when you crank 'er up!

    Have a blast...

O, yeah. I've been playing my 50's black gaurd copy w/52 RI neck, so this neck felt almost identical!

I love the tone that it produces, and the feedback was awesome! I got used to the controls pretty fast. I'm just pondering putting brass saddles on it to soften the tone a little.

I had to file the nut at the gig, didn't file the slots enough to take the 10's right. I used a finger nail clipper file. Bends behind the nut and tuning is almost perfectly stable.

My 50's black guard is a meaty tele with lots of sustain and midrange. So this tele's alittle more classic/soft sounding, but great in it's own world.

Thumbs up to my new TELE!

I've often thought of trading my 2000 (3-tone burst) American Series for a '69 RI. My wife thought I was crazy. I always thought it would be a better compliment to my '52 RI... Interesting that I'm not alone in this thought. Hope you enjoy your new acquisition!

    John :)

Oh, I've had it since Xmas. Great guitar, but now my nocaster project is done, again!

I believe the neck on the thinline is good, but the 52' RI neck is better in my opinion.

The thinline does compliment 50's tele's really good. They are smooth and don't have much bite! I'm going to order some new pups for mine, those MIM pups aren't going to cut it well enough!

    God luck, and twang on!
