Vester 'Tele' was on it's way... Now it's here

I may be a lil' premature as I'm not a Tele owner yet, but this should be with me in the next few days -

- it's a Vester Tradition series 'Tele' (looks like a bound S/B to me..?) and (if it's as nice as the other Trad series Vesters I've played over the years) I've got big plans for it... I'll get it set up 'as is' to begin with, but fancy 'Esquiring' it ASAP.

I'm thinking about a Tortie plate (to match my S/B '72 P-Bass) & a Hotrails pup wired pos 1- H/B in series, pos 2 tapped & pos 3 H/B in parallel.

I'll see how the original neck works out for me, but may have to change it if has any hint of 'V' as I've read some Vesters have.

Anyway, Loving the site for the Esquire & Vester info, and I'll keep y'all informed of how I get on.

Welcome to the forum KotS.. Yeah they're relly nice guitars, I have one that I refinished and modded and made an Esquire aswell. It went from this..

To this..

To this.

The only problem I had was that when I changed the pots to 'full size' CTS pots then the tone wouldn't fit but I just sanded out the inside of the control route and it fixed that easily. And the pickup I had made for it wouldn't fit in the bridge, all the screws were offset a bit so I just bought a wilkinson bridge for it.

They're really nice guitars TBH, even stock it was a great player but I bought it specifically for that project. The necks are quite nice, the horrible headstock grows on you pretty quickly. Mine was more of a 60's C profile neck, almost exactly the same as the MIJ '62 reissue I had.

Looking forward to seeing it Esquired and seeing some more pics when it arrives! Have fun!

Thanks Devo1d.

The auction only closed Friday & I've been checking out what I could to add to my knowledge of Vesters (or Vesta as the seller had listed it..!) when I came across this site. Came as a relief to know that the head is supposed to look like that...

Found out a lot about Tele's/Esquire's too, a lot of it from your posts - that Black 'E' is a beaut, what with the reverse headstock and all. Appeals to me as a soon to be T/E owner, and as an ex-metaller..!

Should have it by Wed/Thurs this week, and can hardly wait.

Well, it arrived yesterday. Here's a couple of quick pix 'out of the box' using my phone -

I kinda like the Headstock. It's got a bit of a Fender meets Tyler thing happening...

Haven't had a chance to do much more than clean & restring her, but I've got a feeling she'll be quite something. I'll probably look for a new neck though, as this one is very shallow with a slight 'V', and a lot of wear round the first couple of frets. Don't reckon I'll be in any hurry to upgrade much else in the meantime. Hardware all seems solid enough; Brass-ish saddles and some pretty good pickups.

And I'm rethinking the whole Esquire conversion thing...

Looking forward to getting her set up and some recording done but right now I've gotta go and stretch some strings,

KotS

Looks really nice KotS, I like the black pickguard on sunburst. Can you tell how many pieces the body is? Mine was 3 big pieces and 1 tiny bot on the corner where the jack goes.

AFAI have found out, the Tradition series (high end) are MIK in the Cort factory from the 80's.

I got mine (pretty beat up) for £94. They're pretty good value IMO.

Devo1d, that is really sweet. I have this thing about matte black. I really want one. Did you paint that body yerself? I absolutely love it!! If you painted that yourself then you have to tell me step by step on how to do it cause I have a guitar that needs a facelift!! lol. Man, I love it!! The fact that it's an Esquire even makes it that much sweeter.
Kots, very cool. I bet you're almost wetting your pants over that one??

Got 4 Vesters Tradition myself, 1 Telecaster, 1 Esquire and two Strats.
They are top notch guitars. Whenever I look at second hand guitars and come across a Tradition, I don't hesitate for 1 second and buy it.
The cream '57'ish Strat was bought by me 4 weeks ago in pr1stine condition
for 130 Euro.

More pics -

More pics here - http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...dition%20Tele/

Haven't had time for any playing recently, but reckon she's a keeper. Pup's seem a little weaker than I'd hoped so may see about some upgrades, maybe some bigger frets eventually.

Anyway, gotta go play some Tele'...

Never heard of a "Vester" until this thread. What about them? Anyone care to elaborate? Are they US made? Are they still around?

They were made in the Korean Cort factory apparently. I think they were short lived but quite good quality guitars, unappreciated since not many people ever heard of them you can usually snap them up cheap.

The headstock isn't as bad as it looks at first, you get used to it pretty quickly.

I had one of these in the other week. Someone wanted some new pickups in it, as the other ones were too noisy for him, but I have to say the guitar itself played like a dream. The neck was really nice, and I really liked the bound body too with the 5 hole pickguard, though has had bowed quite a bit at the top edge.
It now has a pair of hotrail pickups in it and he seem to be a happy man.

Talking of pickguards, I have an antique burst Squier Standard which has a tortoiseshell pickguard on it, and I'm not sure if I like it or not. I like the combo of yours with a black plate myself. I want to see what other combinations look like with either sunburst or antique burst. Maybe I'll post a new thread about this.....
