Pickguard question

Hi all!
Looking to replace the bright white pickguard on my sunburst HW1-struggling with color, bouncing back and forth between black and mint green (but that's not the issue)

I see lots up on the 'bay for the American Standard-the number and location of mounting holes look correct (looking for genuine Fender only) but there are two holes on either side of the neck PU. My HW1 does not have these-are they for height adjustment of the PU? As far as I can understand, the pickguard needs to be removed to adjust mine.

Any help on which models to look for that don't have these holes?

You are correct on all counts sir.

Sounds like you may have the Highway One Texas Telecaster which would use a 5-hole vintage style pickguard............... so that's what your want.

When I was looking at buying it (used) I emailed Fender w/ the serial # and was pleasantly surprised when they got back to me just hours later! Apparently it's a 2006 HW1 (upgrade) listed off all the specs. and everything-great customer service.

It's got 8-hole mounting though, I guess I'll just have to watch the pictures carefully and ask the seller if the guard has the holes off the ends of the PU oval or not.

Cam, try allparts.com They carry Genuine Fender parts. While the OEM Fender pickguard will be a bit more expensive, ordering one of the aftermarket pieces can be frustrating. There exists considerable variations in shape among the many suppliers.

Order a 5-hole vintage pickguard. There's no law that says you have to have an 8-hole pickguard. You could always drill the three additional holes if you feel the need.

Never considered that-I didn't figure the 5 would be in the right spots.

Just bought and paid for this one-now just the wait for it to arrive!
