Early to mid-60's tele's?
Just wondering if anyone knows if all or most of the tele's from the 60's that were (BLACK) had the maple necks with the skunk stripe or were they like the Custom with the non-skunk stripe?.Ive searched it out in the tele archives page and have'nt seen a single black 60's tele.I'm working on a 60's black tele with some SD.antiquity II's and would like to get it to be period correct and also did this run of 60's tele's have a single ply white pickguard or the mint green 3-ply?
just lookin for some expert advise......and dis mus be da place!!! Thanxs everybody in advance! |

Black was available for all of the 60's. A 3 ply guard would kick in around 64-65, and a maple cap neck would be available from about late 63 on. There could be an outside chance that a very early 1960 might have a one piece maple neck, but not too likely. A rosewood slab neck would be the most likely candidate.
