What kind of wire should i have on hand for home soldering/wiring?

just wondering if i'd be able to pickup a roll or two of extra wire to have on hand should the situation arise that i need to switch out some electronics. What kind of specifications and/or materials should it have or be made out of? and I'm looking for any kind of wire necessary, for grounding as well as any/all live connections inside the guitar.

Might as well use the real thing!
Vintage cloth wire in white and black.
It really don't get any better.
Just google it. You can find it lots of places, like here.

What wire is used as a jumper on the switches?

It looks like bare solid wire that isn't braided like normal harness wire.

I asked this same question at a guitar store the other day, but phrased differently, yesterday--I asked silver or copper? They said copper, but those links show silver. Is the vintage wire aluminized copper?

I don't know how much love Teflon gets around here, but I personally love it. I'll level with you, when it comes to soldering irons and PVC I tend to melt them like theres no tomorrow, its a bit tricky to strip Teflon, but once you get the hang of it its a sinch.

Just my two cents.
