El Camino Tele - my latest build ! (Lots of pics !)

I just finished this one up...

Allparts neck
super light Ash body
Tom Short pickups

I hand rolled the edges on the neck and applied the finish, which is a stain combo topped with a VERY thin coat of hand rubbed nitro laquer (except the headstock, which has a thicker coat). All parts are aged to look "old", not "neglected". I didn't want this to look like a "dragged behind the bus" telecaster...more like a killer 60's tele that maybe got refinned in the 70's and has been "kicking around" ever since. It sounds amazing, and feels..TRULY feels...like an early 60's tele. Amazing feeling neck. I know the logo isn't "early 60's", but it's my favorite tele logo, so I used it ! :) The whole guitar weighs about 6.75 lbs...super light and resonant.

Anyway, enjoy....

Thanks guys...it was fun to make, and its DEFINITELY a blast to play. I've had quite a few vintage teles in my day, and this ranks up there with any of them.

I like that, it's different. Very cool to include something you obviously like besides Teles. It's fun to make a guitar unique and something that descibes it's owner. Very nice tele. Looks like a guitar that goes with an El Camino, don't cha think?? Sweet, nice job.

Just on a practical note, I usually play short-sleeved and my arm is resting rubbing all the time exactly where the El Camino logo is. I think after a little "Midnite Rambler" the skin would be chafed clean off my forearm.

Aside from that it's supersweet.
