What paint did you use to paint it, and is that practical for playing, wont it rub off from use? I don't think anything but black and white will go well with a sunburst telecaster. Thanks.

One idea I had if you could find the right stuff or even get it made (but don't ask me where??) is metal work. You know how a lot of basses have metal/chrome work at the bottom of the bridge? Flames in chrome and such? I thought that would look pretty sweet, especially if the guitar has humbuckers. Not that it matters though. Anybody out there ever done this before? Where would you go to get stuff done like that?
You could do some pretty funky things with paint too, like a checkerboard pattern. If you decoupaged a picture on the pickguard what would you use to protect it? You wouldn't bother if it was just going to rip or tear. |

That's what I'm talkin' bout! Ya Rob!! That's it. I would love to dress up one of my tele's in metal baby! Bwwaaaaaahahhahahhaha...
Are those just pics Rob or do you own that metal? If you do, I want them and want to know where you got them and where they could be made??? I bet you could just add a piece of chrome to tail end of that bridge and it would still look cool rather than replacing the whole bridge. Save a bit of cashola? Still, it does look sweet. |

Putting stickers on it or changing the parts won't make it yours any more than it is right now. Playing it will...you'll know when you've connected with it. |

Keep in mind, of course that I personally have a lot of trouble keeping my modifyin' hands off my own guitars. And my cars. And my motorcycles.

Yea, the El Dorado set is bucu bucks. I want it on a lonhorn tele with a knotty pine body and a steer horn burned into the top. Or get some sparkle vinyl, there is lots on eBay. eBay tem number: 110015927834, Check out the range of patterns he has. Glitter, Carbon Fiber, Holograms, Diamond plate in holografic patterns.. This is way out there I saw browsing:

Hey Rob, thanks man. I will definitely be doing this on one of my teles by Sparrow guitars. It already came with flames and pinstriping on it. Actually, that might be overkill. But I do have a totally black Lite Ash tele that would look really sweet with some of that bling, bling!!
Thanks again Hugo |

DAVESTRATCUSTOM.jpg is the name of the file
And someone responds in the messages in the url [up a little] referring to him, so I guess you are right about that. I have not heard of him prior to this. http://gertsik.stumbleupon.com/tag/music/ |

I haven't changed anything ... on the guitar. What I did do was start experimenting with amps, and guitar/amp settings. Starting with an old Gibson, then into tweeds, magnatones, Ampegs and other strange stuff. I got a much better appreciation for what the tele could do by expanding my listening past the obvious (and always fine) BF/SF amps. the other thing was playing the amps louder -- controlling volume at the guitar -- and using that tone knob.
I'm not against modification, just never felt the need. |
