What a small world. I know this Jackson Tele well. I would be proud to own it.

Last I knew a guy named Shawn owned it. It was a player named Tom McDermott's originally (he played with Rick james). This Tele was a transistional guitar in that it was made during a period of time in 1985 when the Charvel name was switching to overseas only and the Jackson name was taking over the bolt ons at the Charvel/Jackson factory. This guitar is one of the few caught in the middle and has a Charvel neckplate with Jackson decal.

Somone asked if Tele shapes were recent. No, Charvel/Jackson has pretty much always offered them. But they were cataloged as "Telly's".

And here is an earlier Charvel Telly. One like this is worth about the same as a mid-late 60's Fender tele.

The guy who sprayed the sunburst should've been standing about a foot to the right...and been a bit taller....

TBH, I quite like it, although I'm not that big on the headstock, I'd go with a Kramer banana one myself.

But I am thinking of one day building a metal tele seeing as I could get a gig easy with metal bands as I have a lot of metalhead friends.

I was thinking maybe Yellow with a black racing stripe body, rosewood fretboarded neck, with a Kahler and a nice grunty bridge and neck buckers for br00talness.

But that would have to come after the "White Telecon" idea I came up with last night. In other words what happens when a White Falcon and a Telecaster love each other very much...

I think the color/painting is very well done...but I find the black pointy
headstock visually too distracting.

I don't quite understand the narrow view that everything should look pretty much the same old same old.

If we didn't appreciate the variants on whatever all the creative people in the world come up with, the world would be like plain rice...no spice ...no pizzaz...just starch. Gloomy thought,eh?

It's okay to color outside the lines!

With a rounder Hamer-esque hockey stick headstock, it'd be better. I like it.

I hate the first one but the one octatonic posted looks pretty sweet! I could probably put up with the ugly headstock because of the sweet finish. If someone GAVE it to me that is. I wouldnt go out and buy either.

I'm already dreaming about building a similar instrument myself.

I have to wonder, what would country metal sound like? This is the second time I've seen that combination mentioned recently, and I can't even begin to imagine it.

Based on my study of CMT, in order to create any "country" hybrid, you just take an existing song in a non-country genre, add some pedal steel and/or fiddle fills at a few points, and hand out a few hats to the band members.

Oh, and make sure that everyone's using Gibson guitars.

Country metal...Guitar wise I think Dimebag may have come the closest to blending the two. Overall style wise, I would say Metallica has come pretty close with "Mama Said".
