Need a second opinion on pickguard for a '72 RI Custom
I have been putting this one together since November '07.
I have been trying to find a vintage (or cream/off) white pickguard for it with no luck! So I went for the closest thing I could find, a white pearl pickguard and I'm not too sure I like it? ![]() ![]() ![]() What do you guys think? I think it's too bright! It sorta takes away from the rest of the guitar, it clashes too much. I think I'll keep searching for a vintage white pearl pickguard. This one just doesn't sit well with me for some reason? Please tell me what you think? I'm interested to see if anyone actually likes this look?

Hi Richard,
I agree, I think the black knobs really stand out against the bright white pickguard. Its just too much of a contrast against the body.. Jut my opinion. Great looking body BTW |

you might be able to acheive the look you want by soaking the white P/G
in tea...I've been told this works on white pickup covers and knobs if your looking for that vintage look....if it doesn't work at least you'll have some refreshments.... |

I ordered from aiguitars and they're OK to deal with. Can be slow at times but tolerable. They did my 72 Thinline pickguard with normal hum instead of the Wide Range. If you decide to order from them outside eBay, ask to do it via PayPal and get them to invoice you with the details of the order. This way, you can make a claim if things doesn't work out.
Or you can do it yourself. You can buy a blank pickguard, trace the pearloid one then cut it, something like that.

i think it's just too much pickguard to go with pearl, white or aged...
email them over at warmoth...they'll make you a parchment, or better yet, a mint green...mint on three tone burst...mmmm....

I sent you an Email for a link to get either the Aged Pearl or Offwhite (Parchment they call it) pickguard for your custom.
