Taking strings off and putting them back on?
The strings on my Tele have been on there for a few months.
I'm thinking of switching the maple neck with the rosewood one on my Strat knockoff (and settle the debate once and for all!). Is it alright if I use the same set of strings? Or will they get mad at me and decide to explode?

Gotoh 'kluson' tuners, vintage nickel plate
Esteban, this is maybe the #1 reason why I'm addicted to these 'kluson' copies, aside from the fact they're great looking and cheap in multiple sets at Stew Mac.
I can get those strings popped off of there, swap necks and be restrung in very little time. I do feel ya gotta put the two 90 degree turns in there, ya can't just shove a cut string down the hole and start turning. With modern tuners, all that unkinking, you're gonna damage maybe one out of every twenty strings, sometimes without recognizing it. Bubbanov |

Last night, I was doing whole step bends on my high e string.
It was (very) poorly put on, and only had one and a half good wraps around, not to mention it was cut very close to the hole. The string popped straight off. It was a bit hard getting it back on, because there was no more weight to keep the string from slipping off, but I managed it with a pair of pliers. |

One gig - one set of strings. Thatīs how i do it.
If i play a guitar just at home, i use the strings of course a little longer. Then it depends on how long i play the guitar and how the strings feel and sound. To me there is nothing worse than a worn out set of strings. Of course you can restring with the old ones, but i think there are better ways to save money... |

when I was young and very poor, I'd save my used strings in case one broke and I had to replace it.. did this for a few years until I started buying my strings by the box lot (on sale, usually) and then I always had plenty of spares.

Here's what I'm going to do...
I'm gonna switch necks, using the old strings initially. If I like it, I will get new strings, and if not, I'll switch back and still use new strings. Mostly because Guitar Center is having a clearance and I can get 6 sets for $20 haha.
