Shallow neck pocket on Warmoth

Measuring and test fitting necks to Warmoth and USACG bodies, I can plainly see that this Warmoth neck pocket is a sixteenth inch shallower than any of the USACG.

Is this a fluke or are they all like this?

Well, here are Warmoth's neck pocket specs:
http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/option...eck_pocket.cfm

And you can ask me again in about a week or so - got a body in the mail from USACG, and once it is here, I can compare it to my Warmoth Tele body.

Those Warmoth specs are correct. The question should be which body meets the specs? Seems like adjustment of pickup and saddle height would compensate for these differences.

Yeah, the USA CGs are a 32nd over, and the Warmoth a 32nd under.
I think once the neck is winched down in there, the USACG will be just right, the Warmoth a bit tall at the heel.

I guess they're telling me the turtle has to go. Or I buy a couple necks and see which one is thin in that measurement, put it on there.

I don't mind having it a little high; got used to the G + L Comanche and S-500 with the heel (and pickups) up so high.

Next thing you'll know, I'll have taken all the sides off a $ 9 Fender bridge plate and epoxied it to the underside of another, just to see what mass does sustain wise.

Thanks, guys for your response.

Say, Roman, what will you do to baby that redwood top? Redwood sapwood can be soft, the heartwood (that's you) can be fragile. Poly might not be mistake on that top, might extend the guitars playing span.

Boris,
I'm not sure about the finish for the redwood top - Tommy from USACG aid that a wax/oil finish (my favorite) was possible on redwood, but he also advised for something stronger. Gonna ask my brother (who's a joiner by profession) for some tips...
