Behringer has several USB guitars in their iAXE line. Start at around $100.
Strat style yes, Tele style, no. But the necks are maple...

That article's just as interesting for the other stuff:

The guy levelled the frets using a technique that I don't agree with.

And he inlaid a logo in the fretboard - I thought that was really good.

This article got put into this months PC Magazine on page 86 just so ya know. There's more info on this link however. I just thought it was pretty righteous.
