Tuning machine opinions requested.
Was thinking of replacing the stock tuning heads on my Squier Standard Tele with Wilkerson Vintage style tuners from Guitarfetish. Questions:
Worth it? Do lighter machines affect tone? Anyone use these machines? Input appreciated! |

I gotta tell ya Dibber, my Squier Standard Tele stays in tune better than any guitar I own. This was the case with 9's that came stock and the 11's that are on there now. I would save my dough.

Gotoh Vintage Oval Knob Tuners in Nickel
Dib, I'd choose the Gotohs thru Stew-Mac over the Wilks. Gotohs are made in Japan, very nice. You need a sleeve of 3/8ths heat shrink wrap to sleeve the stock bush out to your squier bore, which is a bigger bore than MIA or MIM Fender and which means the conversion bushings are too small anyway. $ 36 a set of six, six bushes, seven screws, $ 28 in numbers. Think I've bought twelve sets so far, yeah I like them.
