Paint
What kind of paint do you use on a guitar? I have a synsonics strat style guitar with a built in amp and i'd like to paint it. i already have it taken apart and would like to paint it 3tone sunburst. The main reason i'm doing this is because I want to be a guitar tech (i'm only 17) and would like to learn what i can now.

For us old-school guys, it's nitrocellulose lacquer all the way.
Newer guitars are usually polyurethane or polyester, but sometimes these can be difficult to do yourself. Try this link to the ReRanch website. Bill Lester puts nitro in spray cans. They are loaded specifically for guitar finishing, and have special nozzles that you won't find at the hardware store and make the job much easier. And he just happens to have a 3 color sunburst kit. There are complete instructions on the website, and a forum where you can ask questions of a huge userbase. Bill is also very accessible via email or telephone. It would be hard to go wrong with his products... Guitar ReRanch -Michael Charter Member S. Texas He-Man Emoticon Haters Local #316
