dobro\tele hybrid.

I'm thinking of building one, just for fun. My question is, how hard is it to cut the back off the guitar. inch thick maybe, after I cut the hole for the dobro pan, I want to hollow out as much of the guts as I can. Any ideas, or input?

Im not sure if I understand exactly what you are saying in your post. Do you want to take an existing tele and carve a place to put a resophonic cone? Doing this would make it extremely difficult install tele pickups. Do you just want it to look like a tele, but with a resophonic cone? Or do you want to merge the telecaster biting sound with the twang of dobro?

yeah something like that. I need to hollow out the body some. Have to cut a hole for the cone, and remove a slab off the back to cut out some excess meat.

If you feel you need to hollow out more than the well for the cone you might want to build your own body from scratch............ or you could run a body through a thickness planer and take 1/4 inch off the back ............ then add a 1/4 inch back after you rout chambers. I don't think the additional chambers are worth the effort.

Details???............ Follow the link above.

Sounds???........... Resonator type sounds.
