P/U question: Is it safe...

...to change the stagger of two poles on my Antiquity 55 Tele with the raised D & G poles? The D & G strings are a bit hot with the tele, probably because it has a coumpound radius of 7.25" to 9.5" - therefore a bit flatter at the heel. Will I ruin the pickup if I gently lower the D & G poles?

Thanks,
T.S.

Yes, you'll break it. The coil is wound directly on the magnets, and plus than you couldn't push them through any further because of the steel plate on the bottom of the pickup. You're better off just getting something similar but with flat poles.

Thanks, Carl!

I suspected as much.

Just get the biggest file in your toolbox, loosen the strings and give them pole pieces a few strokes. Hey presto! lowered poles...and in all probability, no magnetism left in them!

Actually, has anyone tried this?
