Maybe go vintage?

If you want a more traditional Tele tone you can replace the whole bridge with a vintage three-saddle one. Angela Instruments has bridge plates for $10 or $7 (depending on if you want the words "patent pending" on the bridge). Stewart MacDonald has compensated saddles for $14.

If you want to stay with your standard bridge, I'd look around for a used bridge. A bunch of people on the board have done the mod described above and must have bridges lying around. (I did this to a standard years ago, but I can't find the old bridge.) Failing that, Stew Mac has graph tech saddles. Expensive.

They aren't tarnished, 'cause they're not chromed to begin with. Brushed aluminum or something.

But I don't like 'em either

Try Axesrus.com. They have never let me down, and very good prices too!
