Wiring question - PCB switch
Hopefully this is the right forum.
I have a tele project almost done and as it is a 1.5" body dont have quite enough depth in the control cavity for a standard switch. I chose a PCB switch as it has a smaller profile. I cant work out how to wire it up. I am remedial with switching and cant visualise how it works. The switch has 8 points down one side ie: neck position =either 3+4 or 8+5 middle positioon = either 2+4 or 7+5 bridge position = either 1+4 or 6+5 points 4 + 5 being common probably would be output? I am stumped. How do I make it work? When I wired up the last tele I just copied a drawing and it worked fine but this time there is no drawing. thanks.....

I asked the same question recently. A guy was kind enough to help out but has deleted his post! Damn!
http://www.tdpri.com/viewtopic.php?t=50857&highlight= Maybe this will help you a little, I wired my esquire according to this schematic and it worked, as you may guess I am not an electronics expert but this is the best way I know to explain... PCB Switch- A B 1 2 3 0 0 1 2 3 Fender 4 a side switch- B 0 1 2 3 1 2 3 0 A A and B are the two different 'poles'. Hope that makes a bit of sense, it worked for me. Obviously it doesnt matter which way round you have the switch as the effect is the same. |

Squier wiring diagram
Current production Squiers use a switch like that, and the support section of the Squier web site has a wiring diagram for it. Here is the product support page with lots of resources including that, or if you prefer, here is link direct to the pdf format file for a Squier Tele with two single coils.

thanks chaps
The squire diagram is also supported [almost] by a poster on the pickup forum. So I guess I will start with that. Very clear and easy to follow. I am wondering though, how one would get one of those deep standard switches into a vintage correct 1.5" body? That is why I used the pcb. There just wasnt the depth to get it in there. Seems a pity to use it but I guess it will last well enough. I seems to be pretty ok.

The squier diagram works perfect for the pcb switch.
At last this project is almost done. Sand & buff the headstock where I put on the logo. Fix a rub through on the body [damit!! i just knew I should'na done that last cut n polish] Bolt on the neck string and set up the bridge . Will post some more pics next week. The body before buffout.
