my head is full of screws!

Hello. My new pickguard arrived yesterday (exciting because it's my first part!). I ordered screws at the same time and they're not the right size for the countersunk holes. Can you clear this up for me? Do Fender screws have smaller heads? They're about 5mm instead of the 6mm they need to be. Also, if you order #4, 1/2" pick guard screws, will they most likely have the larger or smaller heads? What i'm after now is slot head screws with 6mm heads.

Cheers, T

Fender screws are generally smaller than aftermarket versions.
Slot head screws are also 5mm head diameter.
I would guess the pickguard is drilled and countersunk for the usual aftermarket philips head screws which are 6mm head diameter.
Genuine Fender pickguards are drilled correctly and could be an option.
There's a single ply white 5 hole here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-PLY-WHIT...item20dc5bbe18.
The cost including shipping is under 15 and would not incur any vat, customs duty or handling charges which are extortionate for low value items.

Thank you! I thought as much. Are any aftermarket pickguards drilled with the Fender spec? I now have a supply of 5mm head screws!

You can see that the holes are smaller there. I'll have a look on ebay for genuine Fender 8 hole pickguards. Cheers!

If single ply, white, 5 hole Fender will do see link above. You could convert to 8 hole with a bit of DIY.

I think i'll stick with the one i have since it's pretty good quality. It's a temporary measure, while my new body is blonde. I plan on having it re-finished in green further down the road and at that stage i'll try to find an aged white pearl pickguard for it - hopefully a Fender one. I do think the smaller screws look better. Thanks for your help, Tuxedo Poly!

Just out of interest, would the holes on a 5 hole line up exactly with those of the 8 holes on a Fender body?
